Windows Vista’s User Account Control (UAC) feature forces users to confirm
actions that could potentially harm the PC or otherwise make important changes.
This is sensible but can be infuriating, especially for advanced users. So,
if you’re confident you can do without it, turn it off as follows.
First, click Start and open Control Panel. Now, click the User Accounts and
Family Safety link followed by the User Accounts link. Now click the click the
‘Turn User Account Control on or off’ link, click to remove the tick from the
‘Use User Account Control...’ checkbox and then click OK. Be warned, though,
that we strongly advise novice users to keep UAC active.
