A word processor is perhaps the easiest computer program to use, involving
little more than tapping the keys on a keyboard in the right order and
remembering to save the document when it's finished, but as most people know,
Microsoft Word is packed with sophisticated writing and editing tools for those
who need them.
Two of these are the Find and Replace commands, whose functions are so
closely linked that it's customary to think of them as a single tool. They make
it possible to find and jump to any word or phrase in an instant, and to totally
reshape a document by automatically changing words, fonts and other aspects of a
document's appearance.
In the Workshops section of Computeractive issue 277 we explain how to make
use of Word's Find and Replace tools. To help with this, we have prepared a
sample document to work with - click the FindRepSample.doc link above to
download it to your Windows Desktop and refer to the magazine to get going.
